Unabridged Christianity: Biblical Answers to Common Questions About the Roman Catholic Faith

UnabridgedChristianity Book Club

Our next book club book, Unabridged Christianity: Biblical Answers to Common Questions About the Roman Catholic Faith – there are still a few copies left in the Parish Office for purchase at $15.  I chose this book because the author addresses twenty-five issues on which Catholic Christians and Protestants Christians differ; such as, why Catholics call priests father, the Eucharist, the Mass, Marian devotions, purgatory, the Pope, did Mary have other children, confession to a priest and many others.  The author starts each chapter with the official teaching from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, raises common questions Protestants will ask Catholics, and then answers each question using the Bible.  When I was coming back to the faith this book helped me to realize my Catholic faith is in fact Biblical and because of this I am a “Bible Christian”.  When I become Pope –Pope Peter II – I am going to mandate every Catholic on the planet must read this book, so you might as well get a head start. ~Fr Jerome

C.S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters- Book Club Discussion COMPLETE

screwtape letters

A milestone in the history of popular theology, The Screwtape Letters is an iconic classic on spiritual warfare and the dynamics of temptation.

This profound and striking narrative takes the form of a series of letters from Screwtape, a devil high in the Infernal Civil Service, to his nephew Wormwood, a junior colleague engaged in his first mission on earth, trying to secure the damnation of a young man who has just become a Christian. Although the young man initially looks to be a willing victim, he changes his ways and is “lost” to the young devil.

Dedicated to Lewis’s friend and colleague J. R. R. Tolkien, The Screwtape Letters is a timeless classic on spiritual conflict and the psychology of temptation which are part of our religious experience. (source Amazon)
