The task of the prophets was to keep the hope of the people alive while in exile. We too may find ourselves at time feeling like we are in exile, struggling to keep hope alive.  The voice of God speaks to us this week in Advent with a message of hope and light.

Fr. Vincent Sherpa, O.P. preaches at St. Dominic’s in Benicia on the Solemnity of Christ the King. The Church celebrates Christ the King by asking us again to submit to Him, the King of Love.  The Lord is in charge and He asks that we simply trust Him with everything and not hold back. Fr. Vincent shares his story of searching God’s will for his life and trusting him.

Sunday, November 19th, 2017 Sharing your Talents

Fr. Jerome Cudden, O.P. preaches about the parable of the servants that are given talents, each to their ability, and what they did with them.  If we were all given the same exact same gifts how could we complement one another to complete the mission? The scripture says the master says, “come and share your gifts”. It would be a great injustice to do nothing with what God has given us. How are you sharing the gifts that God has given you? Are you using them to further the Glory of God? Listen and enjoy the full homily.

Sunday, November 12th, 2017 The wise vs. the Foolish

Fr. Corwin Low, O.P. preaches at St. Dominic’s in Benicia on November 12th about the parable of the wise vs. the foolish virgins and its analogy to whether or not we will be prepared to be welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven. It is our love of the Lord that makes the preparation and the appeal of the moral life easier and even more enjoyable because we desire to feel God’s presence in our lives and we long to be with Him.

Sunday, November 5th, 2017 What is Fatherhood?

October 2017

Sunday, October 29th, 2017 Reformation Theology: Soli Deo Gloria

Fr. Jerome Cudden, O.P. preaches on the last of the Solas of Reformation Theology, Soli Deo Gloria to the Glory of God Alone. A common objection of protestants to our Catholic faith is our honoring of Mary and the Saints.  He takes us through the scriptures that honor the lives of prophets and saints and how their examples of virtue are really an example of God’s power at changing our human lives for His glory. Listen and learn at the conclusion how we can bring the understanding of these five solas together to do the work in reuniting Christ’s Church.

Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 Reformation Theology: Solus Christus

Fr. Jerome Cudden, O.P. continues his preaching on the Five Solas of the Reformation. This week he provides the Catholic answer to Solus Christus or “Christ Alone”. Father shares his lengthy conversation with a protestant friend that he met with to talk through the differences within our Christian faith.  Listen and enjoy this perspective on how Christ gave us the Sacraments to bring us into deeper relationship with Him.

Sunday, October 15th, 2017 Reformation Theology: Sola Gratia

Fr. Jerome Cudden, O.P. preaches again on Reformation Theology and the basic belief that Christians are saved by God’s Grace alone and nothing we do can alter that grace even our merits.  This week he discusses the cooperation between God and humans with grace vs. merits and how these two affect our salvation. What does our Catholic faith demonstrate regarding God grace?
