March 22, 2015 Fifth Sunday of Lent

Homily at St. Dominic’s analyzes Jesus, and the disciples’, reaction to Lazarus’ death as they follow the stages of grief from denial, bargaining,  sorrow and even anger.  Jesus expresses great sorrow, and reveals his great love for us, in the scripture when it states simply, “and Jesus wept.”

March 15, 2015 Fourth Sunday of Lent

Fr. David preaching on Sunday at St. Dominic’s about Jesus healing the blind man and how it illustrates our Lord’s compassion and power. Jesus is preaching to people who were spiritually blind. “I am the Light”.

March 8th, 2015 Third Sunday of Lent (Homily + Dominican Novices Testimony)

Fr. Anthony Rosevear, O.P preaches on the Gospel of John where Jesus meets the Samaritan women at the well. How it relates to the powerful personal encounter all of us can have with Jesus. Jesus chooses the Samaritan women to become one of His first missionaries. He chose her very personally, to give us confidence, even from our own place in sin to draw us into conversation with Him.

March 1st, 2015 Second Sunday of Lent, The Transfiguration

Fr. Corwin preaches about the Transfiguration of the Lord. We have the benefit of hindsight of understanding what the apostles were so puzzled by, understanding the resurrection.  Examining the three theological virtues, faith, hope and charity.

February 2015

February 22nd, 2015 First Sunday of Lent & The Rite of Sending

The role of Angels in our lives to help guide us and lead us into righteousness with God.

February 15th, 2015 Sixth Sunday of Ordinary Time

“Do everything for the Glory of God.” St. Paul to his gentile converts. Jesus does the impossible healing the lepers, and then he asks the impossible by asking them not to tell anyone.

February 8th, 2015 Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Fr. Jerome’s homily at St. Dominic’s Benicia on February 8th, 2015.  The rebellious angels and their mission to get others to NOT serve God. Their intention is to drive a wedge between us and God through subtle temptations. He recalls the Rolling Stone song, “Sympathy for the Devil”. In 31 words Mick Jagger captures the essence of the devil.  Listen and learn about the growing Right to Die movement and other social movements that have an intrinsic evil behind them, with the goal of separating us from God and getting as many people as possible to join him. But we triumph with Christ who builds us up.

February 1st, 2015 Fourth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Fr. Corwin’s homily at St. Dominic’s Benicia. Jesus taught as one having authority, he was teaching the actually Truth of God.  The truth he revealed has substance and it was the mind and intention of God for us as His children. It is as fresh today as it was two thousands year ago.

January 2015

January 25th, 2015 Third Sunday of Ordinary Time

Fr. David’s homily at St. Dominic’s discusses Jesus early ministry and the gathering of the 12 patriarchs of His Church. Jesus wanted to start with simple people, fisherman. Why? They were hardworking, courageous, and they never gave up hope. They are heroes of the Christian Church. Jesus calls us, ordinary men and women,  to help him in mission and He will change us to be courageous too if we allow Him to enter into us.
