October 2015

October 25, 2015 What does”Jesus, Son of David” Mean?

The names and persons of the old testament and how they lead to the fulfillment of the prophesy of Jesus.

October 18, 2015 Called to Serve

Fr. David’s homily talks about we each seek a time of glory in our lifetime. We all want to make our mark on the world and be first and second to none at some point.  The disciples in today’s Gospel wanted special favors from Jesus, but granting places of honor was not what Jesus had in mind. Jesus wants us to be in a posture of humility and service to Him just as gives Himself to us totally on the cross and in the Eucharist.

October 11th, 2015

Fr. Corwin Low, O.P on prosperity theology. Does faithfulness of Christianity merit the blessing of material well being? In today’s Gospel the young man approaches Jesus and asked what more shall he do, he already follows God’s commandments. Jesus replies to sell all of his belongings and follow him. The task seems impossible to the man, for he is wealthy and has many possessions. It seems the man is owned by his material items. The lesson Jesus offers is to not be spiritually attached to our material items, our wants, or our desires no matter how few or how plentiful. Scripture doesn’t change, and neither does the truth.

October 4th, 2015 Rosary Sunday

“And Mary kept all these things in her heart.” Fr. Jerome contemplates the life of Jesus through Mary’s eyes and her beautiful supporting role.  How much we can learn from Mary and her relationship with her son.  Our Blessed Mother payed such a beautiful role in our salvation history and how much she gave for us.  God asked her to fulfill his will and she obediently said yes.

September 2015

September 27th, 2015 Lifting the Weight of Sin

One small sin leads to another. Fr. Corwin preaches on the importance of lifting the weight of sin frequently through confession to focus on the virtues that lead us closer to God not further away. We must program our lives, and our children’s lives, for virtue and love of God rather than the things of this world that distract us from that love.

There were a few different sermons this weekend but Fr. David’s homily on “transitional Sunday” is recorded here. The noise in our life and how it gradually diminishes our ability to listen. In a personal way we endanger ourselves of not truly paying attention to what is happening around us. What words from God are we closing our ears to? God’s words today “Be Open” and respond and be in defense of God’s creation.
