Fr. Jerome’s homily on Christmas Eve 2015. One sentence from tonight’s Gospel stands out and in particular Fr. Jerome breaks down this verse into 4 important words, David, Savior, Christ, and Lord. In this Gospel God is keeping his promise to the people of Israel that he would give them a nation, and a kingdom through David that would continue through Jesus, the anointed one. When the angel appears to the shepherds he tells them the one they have been waiting for has come, not just to bring back temporal power for the people of Israel but to save ALL people from their sins. We must proclaim the Good News and share it with everyone. Allow the message to penetrate and remind us that God keeps all of his promises, we have one Lord, one God and he is Good.
